On 22-24 of June 2015 the UNI Europa Youth Conference was held in Dublin, Ireland. UNI Europa is a part of UNI Global – a global union federation for skills and services. Kamil Butler, ETF/ITF Youth Committee member was invited to address the conference and present the ITF/ETF youth structures. He also showed the video produced for the ITF Youth Conference at the ITF Congress in Sofia.
At the conference the participants elected a new steering committee, adopted resolutions and endorsed their action plan for the upcoming 2 years. As one of 6 European Trade Union Federations (ETUFs) who are engaged in to Back 2 Our Future campaign, among which the ETF, participants analysed the campaign so far and discussed its future aims.
Due to policy of austerity imposed on Greece by the Troika (IMF, ECB and the European Commission) UNI Europa’s youth committee issued a solidarity message to young Greek workers.
The participants of the conference also gathered at the Clerys department store in the centre of Dublin and supported the workers who were made redundant when the store was sold and immediately closed without any notice. The conference participants call on the trade union movement to support the Clerys workers by signing a petition.
