Following the Seminar on automation, which took place in St. Peterburg on 4-5 September 2018, the ETF Inland Waterways Section adopted a position on automation in the sector.
Despite automation being a slow and gradual process in inland waterways transport, it poses challenges to workers. That is why the effects of the introduction of the technological innovation should be anticipated through research and effective social dialogue.
