ETF’s Fifth ordinary Congress: Barcelona 2017

27 May 2017

ETF Congress 2017

The European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF) organised its 5th ordinary Congress from 24 to 26 May 2017 in Barcelona, Spain, under the slogan Fair transport for Europe – social justice, solidarity, unity. Some 500 participants representing transport unions coming from 41 European countries will discussed strategies and actions to address the new age and ensure a social future in solidarity for all.

Congress is the most important governing body of the ETF and elect s the ETF President, the ETF General Secretary, the Executive Committee and the lay auditors.

It is also the opportunity to decide on the ETF political priorities and strategies for the next four years.

The ETF Work Programme for 2017-2022 will focus on the following topics:

  • Transport policy and sustainable transport
  • Labour and trade union rights
  • Organising globally
  • Cross border representation and coordination
  • Training and education – capacity building

The ETF 2017 Congress approaches each of these topics by identifying the problem, the objectives to be achieved and the concrete actions to be taken.

On 22 and 23 May the ETF Youth Conference took place, and on 23 May the ETF Women’s Conference.
