During ETF’s 6th Ordinary Congress in Budapest in 2022, the work programme adopted by delegates included a section on strengthening ETF’s work with EWCs.
ETF committed to engaging directly with EWCs alongside respective Sections and Committees. The objective of this engagement is to coordinate mutual capacities, mutually develop research, engage with expert information and technical issues while developing and maintaining contact with shops stewards and rank-and-file members, ensure exchanges and establish coordination. Additionally, ETF committed to organising regular meetings of members involved in EWCs or in companies where EWCs could be established.
Furthermore, as part of its work on the revision of the EWC Directive and (re)negotiation of agreements, ETF will continuously advocate for an improved legislative framework, including the clear recognition of the role of EU-level trade union/social partner organisations as representative organisations of workers’ interests.
