On Wednesday 8 October, the Swiss ETF and ITF affiliate Gewerkschaft Unia organised an information action to draw the attention of media and society to the inadequate enforcement of safety regulations regarding work and rest period for professional drivers. Companies are responsible for the correct implementation of driving and rest time rules. Therefore, truck drivers must not be sanctioned when forced to take their weekly rest in their truck. Violation of these rules has a huge impact on all road users. From 11:00am till 12:30pm, the union approached drivers and distributed information on the highway rest-stop near Bern.
