ETF Acting General Secretary Livia Spera sent a letter to Virginijus Sinkevičius, Commissioner for Environment, Oceans and Fisheries, about the impact of the COVID-19 virus and the measures taken by the Members States on fishermen and women.
The majority of fishing vessels have stopped going at sea in a number of Member States because there is nobody buying their catch since the restaurants and open markets are closed. The income of fishers is seriously at risk and urgent measures should be taken to protect them.
