ETF European action day to say ‘NO’ TO FURTHER LIBERALISATION IN ROAD TRANSPORT!

13 May 2013

On 14 May 2010, the cabotage rules came into force at the EU level. However, until present the rules have not been properly applied and controlled. As a result, today, more than ever, we are confronted with unfair competition, social dumping and slavery in road transport. Despite the dramatic situation of labour in our sector, the European Commission wants to eliminate all cabotage restrictions and wants full liberalisation in road transport. A proposal in expected by the European Commission later in 2013.

The ETF has said a clear “NO!” to further liberalisation, justified with facts and figures. However, the European Commission ignores us. It’s time to step up action: tomorrow, tens of ETF affiliates and thousands of trade union members will participate in an ETF action day aimed to storm the European Commission with a clear message: ‘NO’ TO FURTHER LIBERALISATION IN ROAD TRANSPORT! STOP SOCIAL DUMPING NOW!
