Today, the ETF Tugs and Towage Committee sent a letter to the European Association of Tug Owners (ETA) – asking to start meaningful negotiations on a European framework to ensure that all activating in the sector comply with the same rules and regulations. Members of the Committee consider this would be the way to move forward to create a secure workplace for all those working in the European tug and towage sector.

Our Belgian affiliates, BTB-ABVV and ACV-Transcom, protested yesterday in front of the Port Authority of Antwerp against the blatant absence of a decent government in the tug and towage sector. Their message was clear: all those operating in this sector must play by the same rules and comply with the same regulations on the level playing field, including collective agreements in force.
