TUI fly Germany proceeds with plans to dismiss workers after receiving state aid

TUI fly Germany is implementing its restructuring plans that will leave many workers in Germany jobless, despite receiving state aid. The ETF is joining Ver.di in their call for social conditionality in state aid – companies should not be allowed to use crises to restructure, dismiss workers and worsen their working conditions.

ETF and ZZPPiL back conditional state aid for PLL LOT

Awaiting European Commission’s response to the Polish government’s state aid to PLL LOT, ETF and Związek Zawodowy Personelu Pokładowego i Lotniczego (Trade Union of Cabin and Flight Crew) addressed a letter of support to the Commission’s president Ursula von der Leyen, expressing their support with the – conditional – state aid.

Dismissals at P&O Ferries: ETF and its affiliates stand together for fair working conditions and equal treatment

ETF deplores P&O Ferries’ proposal to make 1,100 redundancies amongst key workers in Dover, Hull, Liverpool, Cairnryan and Larne including over 900 UK seafarers. We believe that any public funding received by shipping companies to address the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic should be conditional on the protection of local employment and the Collective Bargaining Agreements with the ETF’s UK affiliates for the long term.

The future of European Shipping needs to be social!

Last week, European Shipping Week 2020 was held in Brussels, organised by the European Community Shipowners’ Associations (ECSA). This year, the ETF Maritime Transport section took part in a variety of ways, with trade union representatives from nine different countries attending and contributing to the programme.
