In view of the COVID-19 health crisis, ETF, alongside 5 European Trade Union Federations, has issued Joint European Trade Union Federations’ Recommendations to
EWC/SE Coordinators and worker representatives in SNBs, EWCs and SEs on Anticipating and managing the impact in multinational companies.

ETF condemns the Croatian government’s legislative initiative which would suspend labour and social rights and expresses that it is a clear attempt on workers’ rights in a letter to the Croatian government. Launching such an initiative when the whole of Europe is undergoing a health crisis, and while Croatia’s workforce is already under pressure as they cope with this epidemic is appalling. Such a crisis should never be used as an excuse to take away workers’ rights.

In response to the recent CBER prolongation, social partners sent a letter to the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, expressing their disapproval of the decision pointing to the negative consequences of this action. The decision was not subject to a proper prior evaluation of effects and will likely have detrimental effects on many companies and workers of the logistics and supply chains in the EU.
