European comparative studies on Women in the Railway Sector

29 May 2012

In 2005 and in 2012 the social partners in the railway sector, CER and ETF carried out two comparative studies to look at the situation of women in the railway sector. Those studies were the basis for the ETF-CER “Joint Recommendations on a better representation and integration of women in the rail sector” and the “Good Practice and Implementation Guide”.  They give a lot of insight about the barriers preventing women to choose the railway sector for their professional future but also a number of good practice examples what railway companies and trade unions are doing to attract women to their sector.
