Italian aviation workers will exercise their right to strike today after unions representing aviation transport workers across Italy called for a 24-hour strike in defence of workers severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

To kick off Sustainable Transport Days, the ETF brought together key players in EU transport and beyond to reflect on the future of these industries.

The European Commission published a New Pact on Migration and Asylum. Initial analysis of the text revealed that the document still lacks solidarity, as well as legal clarity and coordinated solutions for cases where commercial vessels and their crew are involved in rescuing migrants and refugees.

ETF is shocked and saddened to learn about the terrible rail accident on 7 August 2020 in Portugal which resulted in the death of two maintenance workers and 37 injured. ETF presents its sincere condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of the tragic accident.

The ETF Dockers’ Section has sent a letter to the Italian Ministry of Transport in support of the requests of its Italian affiliates, asking for rules that clarify the problem of self-handling in ports.
