Will the new European Parliament President deliver for transport workers?

This week the EU has chosen new leaders for its key institutions, but most of the candidates are not exactly progressive. One exception is David Sassoli, the Italian chosen to lead the European Parliament for the next 30 months. We sent him an open letter to remind him of his previous commitments to workers’ rights, and make clear how urgently working people in Europe need a new approach.

A stone in the sea to defend aquatic ecosystems and Fair Transport

FLAI CGIL and ETF dedicated a stone sculpture to Fair Transport as part of the project ‘La Casa dei Pesci’. Our huge block of marble has now been lowered into the Mediterranean. It will become part of an underwater gallery which prevents illegal fishing and offers a habitat to fish.

Unions are at the table as European Parliament ushers in new Labour Authority

MEPs have formally signed off on a proposal to create a new European Labour Authority to oversee fair application of EU labour laws to workers who move around Europe. A huge step forward! Trade unions will have a major role in the powerful new body. But there is more work to do, so that transport workers are fully covered.
