The European social partners of the urban public transport (UTP) sector, the European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF) and the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) collaborate together to understand better current digital trends in UPT and are supported by EVA Akademie. The projects runs from 2019 until 2020 and addresses the impact of digitalisation on employment, working conditions, required tasks at work as well as workers’ skills. The project also address how social partners can shape technological changes through social dialogue.
The objectives of the project are:
- Collect information about the relevant developments of the digital transformation in the sector in the areas of customer services, operations, maintenance and HR management and work organisation;
- Obtain an overview of the expected impact of digital transformation on work, especially on employment, working conditions, tasks and skills and social dialogue;
- Develop a common strategy towards policy decision makers;
- Agree on draft joint recommendations between ETF and UITP, developing principles regarding the introduction of new technologies in the social dialogue.
The project is focused on the following areas of urban public transport:
- Operations;
- Maintenance;
- HR Management and work organisation;
- Customer services.
Each of these four areas will be addressed in a dedicated workshop gathering experts, trade unions as well as employers.
The final report of our joint project “Digital transformation and social dialogue in Urban Public Transport in Europe” is out and available in 7 languages (EN, ES, FR, DE, HU, IT, PL). Available to download at your right.
