Standing up for our rights, shifting power from capital to workers.

The European Transport Workers’ Federation is a democratic federation of transport trade unions. Our policy positions, campaigns and actions are the result of democratic decision making and approval. 

Various statutory bodies and committees, elected by our affiliate unions, form the governance structure of the ETF. The ETF Secretariat in Brussels has a small professional team who support and coordinate the ETF’s work.

OUR POSITION

Each ETF Section – the bodies that coordinate our activities in a specific transport sector –  has democratic governance systems and committees. 

Those are explained on the pages dedicated to our work in the sector in question. The rules about ETF decision making and governance are set out in our Constitution.

Giorgio Tuti Elected New ETF President

Belgian trade union leader Frank Moreels stepped down from his function of ETF President, in view of his upcoming role as President of the ITF. A Swiss national, Giorgio Tuti has been a high-profile unionist in the trade union movement since 1988. He served as President of the Swiss Transport Workers’ Union (SEV) for 14 years, from 2009 to 2023 and has been Vice-Chair of the Swiss Trade Union Confederation since 2009. Tuti has been chairing the ETF Railways Section since 2017.

Executive Committee of ETF met in Brussels on June 4/5

On June 4th and 5th, 2024, Brussels hosted the European Transport Workers' Federation (ETF) Executive Committee meeting. Trade unionists from across Europe gathered to discuss and shape the future of European transport, focusing on workers' interests. ETF President Frank Moreels opened the meeting by underlining the need to stop the far-right, who have always worked against the interests of workers.

ETF’s Executive Committee Meeting and Approved Documents – November 2023

The ETF Executive Committee met on November 29-30, 2023, in Berlin, marking a significant gathering of unions from across Europe. During two days, several topics were discussed, namely reports on ETF's regular projects and budget. We had the opportunity to listen to workers about the ongoing work on sustainability, equality, women and youth.
