ETF SOLIDARITY WITH UKRAINE

EUROPEAN TRANSPORT WORKERS' FEDERATION

ETF represents transport workers across Europe. Transport workers connect the world, they build bridges between people all over the world. Yet, they are the first to pay the price of this war.  With our affiliates, we will do whatever is necessary to help protect and support you.

ETF IN UKRAINE

Our affiliates in Ukraine:

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

SOLIDARITY FUND

The ETF and ITF have set up a solidarity fund to support the activities run by transport unions in Ukraine and in the neighbouring countries to the benefit of those affected by the war.

ETF HUMANITARIAN AID CONVOY

ETF has sent three humanitarian aid convoys to Ukraine with supplies – food, water, clothes, blankets, and basic necessities.

The humanitarian aid is destined for our transport workers and their families, and distributed by our Ukrainian unions

A huge thank you to all our unions, donors and volunteers who made this happen!

ARE YOU A TRANSPORT WORKER AFFECTED BY THE WAR?

Many of our members in Europe have set up support for stranded transport workers and for Ukrainian transport workers’ families in need.

Get in touch with us via helpukraine@etf-europe.org and we will immediately inform our members about your case.

WORKERS' RIGHTS

Recent Legislative Developments in Ukraine in the field of Labour Relations:

On July 19, the Ukrainian Parliament passed a law that will discriminate against workers in organisations with less than 250 employees and deprive them of labour protections including collective labour rights.

Its adoption is contrary to The Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, now Part II of the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe, which includes a number of fundamental trade union rights.

While both the ETF and the ITF welcome the recent decision to grant Ukraine a status of an EU Candidate Country, we are appalled by these recent legislative developments in Ukraine in the field of labour relations.

In view of Ukraine’s candidacy to the EU, the ETF and the ETF call on the European Commission to compel Ukraine to recall the laws depriving Ukrainian workers of their collective rights and social protection.

You may consult the ETF-ITF letter here.

Meanwhile, to support Ukrainian workers’ struggle for labour rights, please sign the LabourStart Petition to call on Ukraine’s President Zelenskyy to veto the law (law no. 5371) as it does not comply with the Constitution of Ukraine, Ukraine’s European integration obligations and international labour standards.
