Projects March 2, 2021 Social conditions in bus and coach transport in Europe ETF project develops solid know-how on social conditions and Collective Labour Agreements in the bus and coach sector to enable ETF member organisations to safeguard drivers’ pay and conditions, in an ever-changing market.
Issues January 20, 2021 Mobility Package: Next Steps From July 2020 a new set of EU rules covering market and social aspects governs road transport in the EU, both for passenger and freight. Now the Package needs to be supported by a series of concrete legally-binding implementation measures and guidance on how rules have to be applied and enforced. The ETF is on it! Ongoing
Campaign January 20, 2021 Cross-border cooperation against social dumping Road transport is a cross-border activity; this calls for cross-border cooperation between trade unions to defend drivers’ rights due to the increasing complexity of mobile workers’ issues. In 2017, the ETF set up an International Trade Union Cooperation Office gathering five trade unions from Belgium, Denmark, Romania and Sweden. The aim? To assist in organising and defending Romanian truck drivers working abroad to ensure that employers respect their national and European rights!
Issues January 12, 2021 Brexit: Respecting drivers’ working conditions Road Transport between the UK and the Continent is essential but, unless professional drivers are guaranteed a smooth border crossing and a prompt and regular return home, less and less of them will be willing to transport goods and people across the Channel. In view of the new Brexit agreement, the ETF is keeping a close eye on developments and working to ensure the wellbeing of our drivers.

Projects July 3, 2020 EADT – ETF Automation and Digitalisation Toolkit The overall aim of the project is to give the ETF-affiliated transport unions concrete tools to address the challenges caused by automation and digitalisation for European transport workers. This will be achieved by compiling an ETF Automation & Digitalisation Toolkit (EADT).

Fatigue makes it harder for drivers to maintain vigilance, alertness and decision-making capacity in passengers safely to destination. ETF launches Safer Roads project, to raise awareness about driver fatigue and to improve safety on EU roads.
