Social Dialogue in Rail: our achievements

The European Social Dialogue in the rail sector is very active and used all instruments available for the social partners at European level:

• Agreements implemented as EU Council Directive and thus becoming EU law;
• Joint Recommendations addressed to the rail companies and the trade unions
• Joint statement addressed to politicians
• Studies, guidelines, project publications, etc

The following list provides an overview of all achievements of the European Social Dialogue in the rail sector in the last 20 years.

AGREEMENTS

• Working conditions of mobile workers (signed 2004, EU law 2005), implementation reports in 2009 and in 2018); joint evaluation
• European locomotive drivers’ license (signed in 2004), followed-up by a Joint Declaration on the application of the agreement (2009)
