The COVID-19 outbreak stopped many fishing activities due to lack of demand and restrictive measures. The ETF welcomes the announcement of the Commission to compensate fishermen through the EMFF.

In view of the COVID-19 health crisis, ETF, alongside 5 European Trade Union Federations, has issued Joint European Trade Union Federations’ Recommendations to EWC/SE Coordinators and worker representatives in SNBs, EWCs and SEs on Anticipating and managing the impact in multinational companies.

ETF is now once again calling upon the Commission to take concrete action to protect Europe’s transport workers as new developments arise every day. Reports received from around Europe show that some employers are not taking the pandemic seriously, and are putting workers in danger with their failure to act appropriately.
