New River Cruise Organiser for Europe – Welcome to Ruud Touwen

News

The newly appointed River Cruise Organiser Ruud Touwen will be on tour the whole season with the special ETF/ITF camper.

He will visit your vessel in ports across the Rhine, the Danube or any other main river cruising river in Europe. You will see him often.

Should you have any questions, or if you have problems with for example payment of your wages, your working hours, overtime, leave, bullying and harassment, accommodation or anything that has to do with your work on a river cruise ship, do not hesitate to contact him.

Ruud is a former seafarer, machine-engineer, and after his sailing career joined the ITF inspectorate where he was for many years responsible for the inspectorate in the Netherlands and Germany. Just to say that his experience is outstanding.

Of course Ruud cannot cover Europe on his own. You can always contact a trade union closer to home. See their contact details at the bottom of this page.

Ruud’s email is: r.touwen@etf-europe.org and his mobile phone number is: +31 6 53 31 50 72.

A week earlier, headlines were dominated by reports of a flight from Dublin to Ibiza descending into what was described as "sex and booze chaos," leaving fellow passengers shocked.

UK public transport unions sound the alarm over lack of toilet access for drivers

Public transport unions in the United Kingdom are raising urgent concerns about the lack of access to toilet facilities for bus and train drivers, a problem that has persisted for years but is now reaching a breaking point. Reports from across the UK show drivers being forced to work entire shifts without guaranteed access to a toilet, leaving them to rely on improvised or unsafe alternatives, including urinating in bottles in their driving cab. Some unions are now considering industrial action to force employers and authorities to act.
