We were shocked and saddened to learn of the terrible train accident of March 18, 2020, near the Strasbourg train station in which a railway track maintainer lost his life and a second track maintainer was seriously injured.
On behalf of the European Transport Workers’ Federation, we would like to express our sincere condolences to the families, relatives, friends and colleagues of the victims of this tragic event.
We express our solidarity with the three railway workers who suffered a psychological shock following this tragedy. Once again, such an accident shows how important it is to fight for the safety of infrastructure maintenance personnel and rail safety on behalf of railway workers and passengers. We hope that an appropriate and independent accident investigation will provide answers to this tragedy.
