UNITE takes up action against weekly rest in the lorry

As part of the ETF weekly rest campaign, UNITE THE UNION has written to the UK Members of the European Parliament Transport Committee, pointing out at the relevant legal requirements of the driving and rest time regulation. UNITE circulated flyers on weekly rest to their leading officers across the country and these are being distributed in areas where drivers are parking up on their weekly rest. The weekly rest campaign got a wide support amongst UNITE activists with a full endorsement from the union’s National Road Transport Committee.
