The ETF Dockers Section is devastated by the news of the brutal missile strike on the HHLA Container Terminal in Odessa — an attack that has claimed the life of one worker and left eight others injured.
To our brave members of the MTWTU and to all Ukrainian dockers: the European Transport Workers’ Federation stands firmly with you in these tragic times.
These are not only attacks on a port: they are attacks on workers, on families, and on the fundamental right to live and work in safety and peace.
We are deeply shocked by the death of a CTO employee as a result of this senseless act of aggression. On behalf of the entire ETF Dockers Section, we extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the victim.
We also express our solidarity with the seven injured workers and wish them a swift and full recovery.
Since the beginning of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, transport workers have paid a heavy price. Together with the wider European labour movement, we continue to urge European governments to intensify their efforts to bring an end to this war.
