On October 6th and 7th public transport unions from across Central and Eastern Europe met in Poznan for the final regional workshop of the Trade Unions for Better Public Transport project (TU4BPT). Hosted by Polish affiliate OZZKiM, the workshop delivered the final round of training for trade union representatives regarding the Twin Transition in public transport.
Unions from Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, Latvia and Lithuania shared experiences and best practices in defending urban public transport workers’ interests, while strategizing about the challenges and opportunities presented by digitisation and electrification of public transport.
The workshop provided a key opportunity to strengthen cooperation between UPT unions in the CEE region, deepening ties of solidarity. Participants were keenly aware of the impacts that EU policies relating to the green transition and ever increasing digitisation would have on the working conditions of their members.
