IWT educational network EDINNA meets online

News

Last week, Edinna, the educational network of inland waterway navigation schools and training institutes, brought together its members in an online meeting.

The network’s members have been facing difficulties in their work because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but this didn’t stop them from joining the meeting and sharing their experiences. They exchanged information on how they’ve been coping with and adapting to the new circumstances.

Edinna’s work is of high importance for the ETF, as it provides the content to the professionals’ skills and competences with high-end course manuals. It works towards harmonisation of practical and theoretical examinations throughout Europe to ensure an upskilled workforce and labour mobility.

ETF welcomes the contribution of the network to the development of inland waterways professions and their overall attractiveness of the sector.

Edinna’s press release on their online meeting is available here.

The EC Fair Labour Mobility Package, a step in the right direction

The ETF welcomes the Fair Labour Mobility Package presented yesterday by the European Commission. Mobile and non-EU workers are essential to the fabric of the internal market and the possibility to work in another EU country is an invaluable freedom. However, labour mobility only works in a spirit of fairness and upwards social convergence.
