In response to the decision to prolong CBER, social partners addressed a joint letter to the President of EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
In it, we express strong disagreement with the decision and point to the negative consequences of this action. The decision was not subject to a proper prior evaluation of effects and will likely have detrimental effects on many companies and workers of the logistics and supply chains in the European Union, including in the shipping sector.
CBER regulation will continue excluding liner shipping consortia from the EU antitrust, and allow shipping lines with a combined market share of below 30% to enter into cooperation agreements to provide joint cargo transport services.
