On behalf of the European Transport Workers’ Federation, we express our profound sadness and distress over the tragic collision of a passenger and freight train in Greece last night, resulting so far in the loss of 36 lives and leaving many more injured.
Our thoughts go out to all those affected by this terrible accident, including the families and friends of the victims.
We call for a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding this accident in order to determine how it happened and to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
ETF and its affiliates stand in full solidarity with all workers who have been affected by this tragedy, including those who were directly involved in the incident and those who are working tirelessly in its aftermath. We extend our deepest sympathies to all who have been impacted and pledge our support in any way we can.
