We present our vision for Fair Transport to the EFTA countries

News

A few weeks in advance of our Fair Transport action week, we continue to talk to European policymakers, presenting our positive vision for the transport sector. As the ETF is a pan-European trade union federation, we also meet with representatives and officials of non-EU countries.

On 5 March, ETF General Secretary Eduardo Chagas attended a meeting of the Working Group on Transport of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), an intergovernmental organisation of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. He presented our Fair Transport campaign to the EFTA Working Group that is responsible for the incorporation of acts into the European Economic Area Agreement and their national implementation. Our message was well received and a lively exchange developed on ongoing dossiers in the road, maritime and civil aviation sectors.

The EC Fair Labour Mobility Package, a step in the right direction

The ETF welcomes the Fair Labour Mobility Package presented yesterday by the European Commission. Mobile and non-EU workers are essential to the fabric of the internal market and the possibility to work in another EU country is an invaluable freedom. However, labour mobility only works in a spirit of fairness and upwards social convergence.
