European Year of Rail 2021

Today Connecting Europe Express takes off from Lisbon, a key highlight of this European Year of Rail 2021. But this year isn't just about trains and infrastructure; it's also about the people making it all possible: railway workers.

The third episode of ETF Talks focusses on the European Year of Rail 2021, the role of rail in contributing to climate goals, why policies have failed so far, the effects of social shortcomings of the sector on railways workers and what needs to be done to boost railways with its workforce on board.

ETF Railway Section Chair Giorgio Tuti and ETF Deputy General Secretary and Political Secretary for Rail, Sabine Trier joined the Transport Working group of the S&D Group in the European Parliament to give an overview of the social situation in the rail sector.
