Unions affiliated to the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) and the International Dockworkers Council (IDC) will deliver a letter today to key Ørsted offices, and organise protests in key ports in North America, Europe, Australia and the UK. Ørsted US has failed to negotiate in good faith, breaking promises to workers and union members represented by the International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) in New London, Connecticut.

Following the SOTEU 2023, the European Transport Workers' Federation calls on the EC President, Ursula von der Leyen, and the European Commission at large, to back statements of support for social partners and trade unions with bold and substantive actions, policy and legislation.

Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs) are vital in ensuring fair working conditions and wages for aviation workers. On the unions' side, negotiating a CBA is a complex exercise. At the end of this multi-faced process, the right balance between union members' expectations and what the employer can offer must be found.

Ports and logistics hubs have very much in common, and ETF is currently exploring ways in which the two sectors can learn from each other, also regarding labour. At Logistics and Maritime BiLOG 2022 Forum, the ETF General Secretary, Livia Spera, shared our vision of building a safe and fair logistics sector.

The ETF has addressed a letter to the EU-UK Brexit Negotiation Taskforce to express concerns that Brexit will come with chaos and confusion on the UK border, and with delays at ports due to incomplete IT systems.
