On 21 June, the ETF launched the very first Day Against Driver Fatigue in Europe. The ETF and its affiliates took action across Europe to draw attention to the critical problem of driver fatigue in road transport. 21 June was the longest day of the year – but for professional drivers, every day is the longest!

The ETF takes the lead in campaigning for a non-discriminatory application of EU legislation to all bus, coach and truck drivers working on the territory of the EU, no matter their origin.

ETF study on “Social Conditions in Bus and Coach Transport in Europe” explores what it needs to become more attractive and recall and retain skilled drivers.

ETF contributes to European Commission Consultation on the ex-post evaluation of the Driving Licence Directive, and highlights the need to take into account the reality of drivers when considering certain changes and puts forward recommendations that will improve the sector's level-playing field.

ETF welcomes the legal guide on driving and rest time rules and applauds the European Commission’s stance in favour of the improvement of working conditions in the sector, fair competition between operators and road safety for all road users.

The ETF has addressed a letter to the EU-UK Brexit Negotiation Taskforce to express concerns that Brexit will come with chaos and confusion on the UK border, and with delays at ports due to incomplete IT systems.
